William Joseph McCracken, age 71, passed away on February 25, 2026. A beloved, brave, cherished, compassionate, devoted, hard-working, honest, generous, patient, and selfless man, William will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born April 19, 1954, William graduated from Ahrens High School as an honor student and then attended trade school shortly after. He married his wife of 53 years, Beverly “Bev” Jo McCracken, and together they built a life rooted in steadfast love and devotion.
William was a present father—always there for his children, always ready to help pick up the broken pieces during and after their hardest times. His family was everything to him. He loved to fish and be outdoors, and he also loved music and played the guitar. William was dedicated to his sobriety and spirituality as a Christian man, and he loved spoiling his wife, Bev, whom he cherished. He came into this world fighting and went out the same way.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus McCracken and Betty Alice Kemper McCracken; his brothers, Arthur “Artie” McCracken, Columbus McCracken, and Robert McCracken; his sister, Mary Lou; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Bev Jo. McCracken; his sons, B.J. “Billy” McCracken and Matt Jones; his daughter, Amy Jo McCracken; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Milliner and Lauren Jones; his great-granddaughter, Lydia Chandler; as well as many on the beloved family members and friends.
