He is survived by his devoted wife Karen, daughter Christy (Doug) Muschany, step-son Nathan (Amy) Metcalf, granddaughters Sydney Fulkerson and Kalley Muschany, his sister Pat Hall and Jeannie Meisner as well as nieces, nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents E.V. and Florence Purnell and first wife, Mary Lou.
Bud was an alumnus of duPont Manual High School where he was a proud member of the marching band. An avid percussionist, Bud’s love of music continued throughout his life. He spent many years as a choir director conducting both junior high and adult choir.
Professionally Bud wore many hats. He built furniture, taught high school, worked in sales and drove a shuttle bus. He had an impeccable work ethic and loved being useful and busy, retiring at least three different times.
Most of all Bud was a faith-filled man who found joy in Jesus and doing for others. From hosting a multitude of men’s breakfasts at Church, to opening his home to his bonus granddaughter Julia Wood, Bud consistently gave himself generously and from the heart.
