With shattered hearts and enduring love, we share the passing of Xander Charles Rothrock, who left this world far too soon on April 30, 2025, at the age of 18. A senior at Ballard High School, Xander was a bright, bold, and unforgettable young man whose warmth and spirit lit up every space he entered. He never met a stranger—and once you met him, you never forgot him.
Born on March 12, 2007, Xander brought energy, mischief, and joy into the world from day one. Known for his stubborn streak and fearless heart, he lived life on his own terms—drumming with passion, tearing across the lacrosse field his freshman year, and cooking gourmet meals with a flair well beyond his years. He loved a perfectly cooked steak, a torched crème brûlée, and most of all, time with the people he loved. He was known by many names—Xandipoo, Xanderella, Xan Man, Spiderman—each one a reflection of his humor, character, and the many roles he played in others’ lives. He started working at Jak’s at just 14, quickly becoming a fixture in the restaurant with his strong work ethic and infectious personality.
Xander is survived by his loving parents, Christopher A. Rothrock (Katie) and Ada E. Rothrock (Jason); his brother and lifelong sidekick, Max Rothrock (Lindsey Albrecht); and the love of his life, Julianne “Jules” Jarrell. He is also survived by his step-siblings, Zachary Culver and Callie Culver; his best friend, Zaxton Rothberg; and his bonus mom, Kelly Rothberg.
He was the cherished grandson of Bill VanOrmer, Jo Ann Lenahan (Phil Childers), and Steve Rothrock (Sharon), and was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” VanOrmer. Xander also leaves behind a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:30-7:30 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY 40207, where all who knew and loved Xander are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life lived with passion, humor, and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Xander Charles Rothrock Fund (https://lrpfd.networkforgood.com/projects/251727-support-the-rothrock-family) created to carry forward his legacy of brilliance, generosity, and heart.
Though his time was brief, Xander’s impact was immeasurable. His memory will live on in the laughter he sparked, the love he gave, and the lives he changed.
