Everett graduated from Rockford East High School in 1948, where he participated in ROTC, played Alto and French horns in band and spent two years with the Rockford Civic Symphony Orchestra. With the high school band, Everett marched in many parades and performed at halftime shows during football games.
In 1954, Everett married Mildred “Millie” Larson.
Everett was employed at National Lock Company for 22 years as a tool and die maker. Those skills enabled him, Millie and their two sons, James and Gary to be moved to Loveland in 1969, where Everett worked at Hewlett Packard, enjoying 22 years with them until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, Everett volunteered with several different organizations, including trail work for the City of Loveland, Larimer County and Roosevelt National Forest and helping by driving the Courtesy Cart for McKee Medical Center.
Everett and his family enjoyed many years in Colorado: hiking, fishing and sightseeing. Everett especially enjoyed many years with the Loveland Mountain Club and later as a Volunteer Ranger Assistant for Larimer County. Everett loved to fish in the small streams coming out of Rocky Mountain National Park for brookies, small and large. Brookies live in the most beautiful places. Everett also enjoyed going ice skating with his senior club through the Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC).
Everett’s greatest sorrow was when he lost his son, Gary, in 2002 in an auto accident.
Everett is survived by his son, James Carlson; his daughter-in-law, Mary; his brother, David Carlson; his grandchildren, Stephanie Carlson, Forrest Carlson and Charles Carlson and his great-grandchildren, Robin Carlson and Iris Carlson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 wonderful years, Mildred Jean Carlson and their son, Gary Carlson.
Everett wanted to thank his friends and neighbors for all their help throughout the years as him and Millie went through various surgeries, etc. He also wanted to recognize some wonderful Rangers he worked with, especially Bob, Travis, Zac, Steve and Bri and meeting and enjoying the enthusiasm and friendship of many hikers, including Lisa, Gale and many more. He would always say they “Made My Day!”
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Allnutt Funeral Service-Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO, followed by burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Ft.
