

Harold was born on a farm south of WaKeeney, Kansas on August 6, 1924. He and his parents moved to Loveland, CO during the last of the dust bowl days. He graduated in 1942 from Loveland High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943. He served in the infantry in the Philippines until the end of WWII. On returning to Loveland he married Joyce Karst in 1947. The adopted a baby boy in 1954 and Harold returned to the printing business. He was called back into the service and served in Korea for one year. On returning they adopted a baby girl in 1958. A new job took them to Steamboat Springs, CO to work in printing there. After two years they opened an office supply business. 20 years later they sold it to return to Loveland to care for five elderly family members. When they had passed they moved to Grand Junction, CO where their adult daughter was living. She was killed in a jeep accident in 2002. Several years later they moved again back to Loveland. Retirement took them to an independent living unit in Loveland. Two years later they moved to Brookdale in Longmont where Joyce pass from Alzheimer’s in 2018. Harold remained at Brookdale for serval more years.
