Harold Scherbenski

Harold Scherbenski, 93, of Berthoud, CO, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, CO. He was born in a sod house in Artas, Campbell County, SD on August 14, 1932 to the late Paulina (Schmidt) and Elias Scherbenski. He was one of ten children.

Harold attended grade school in a two room school in the county for eight years and graduated from Eureka, SD High School in 1950. After graduation, Harold served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956.

On June 28, 1958, he married Genevieve V. Hernandez in Los Angeles, CA. While in Los Angeles he worked at General Telephone from 1957 to 1961. In 1961, they moved to Longmont, CO and Harold worked on a farm for a short time, before he went back to telephone work. He retired in 1994.

Harold enjoyed beekeeping and did so part-time from 1967 until 2021.

Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve and daughter, Tamara Jean. He is survived by his children, Leigh Anne Robinson (Kevin Dahl), Grace Roath (James) and Zachary Guy.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2025 followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both at Allnutt Funeral Service-Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2025 in Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.
