Jean was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Norman and Phyllis Lynum on November 7, 1944. She is survived by her husband, Richard Scherer of Loveland, CO, whom she was married to on July 14, 1966, her children Jeff (Kimberly) Scherer of Palmetto, FL, and Jennifer (Matthew) Rise of Windsor, CO, her four grandchildren Kiley & Kayla Scherer and Samuel & Ella Rise, and two nieces Pamela (Doug) Mayhew of Thornton, CO, and Kristy (Michael) Bassett, of Thornton, CO.
Jean, with her mom and Sister (Judy), formed a singing trio beginning when Jean was 3 years old. They went on to perform for live audiences, on the radio, and even recorded an album. Jean loved the outdoors. As an avid fan of the mountains, she loved hiking with friends. She often talked about returning to the beaches of Fort Lauderdale, FL where she grew up when she was young. Rich and Jean enjoyed traveling to Phoenix, Las Vegas, and using their timeshare in Dillon, CO.
She enjoyed pottery, sculpting, stained glass, and sewing. During the summer months, she enjoyed gardening and sitting in the sunroom with Rich enjoying their view of the mountains. Jean was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering in support of the membership.
Everyone that knew Jean would describe her as a warm, caring, cheerful, and humble woman. She was selfless, always thinking of the needs of her family rather than her own. She was humble, forgiving, filled with gratitude, and had a tremendous love for her Lord and her husband Rich.
The family asks that donations be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church in her honor in-lieu-of flowers.
