Lynette Doris‑Jean Erickson Brown passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at North Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Warren County, Pennsylvania, on February 17, 1940, and was adopted at age three by Walter Erickson and Angeline Domarad Erickson. She was raised in Hydetown, Pennsylvania.
Lynette graduated from Titusville High School in 1958 and married Douglas “Doug” Troy Brown shortly thereafter in Titusville. The couple lived in the Corry, Pennsylvania, area, where they raised their four children: Howard, Martha, Roberta “Bobby,” and Cynthia “Cindy.” They attended the Church of Christ in Columbus, Pennsylvania.
Lynette worked for many years as a secretary and receptionist for several small and mid‑size companies in the area and especially enjoyed her work at the Try‑M loan company in Corry and Warren.
Following Doug’s death in 1977, she married Richard “Dick” Ottaway. They lived in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, until their divorce in 1979. Lynette later moved to Edinboro, Pennsylvania, where she pursued college studies and met Maurice Holloway, whom she married in 1980. They divorced in 1986.
She then relocated to Naples, Florida, where she worked in department stores as well as in secretarial and receptionist positions. Soon after, she moved to Davie, Florida, and became an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and participated in the bell choir. Years later, she transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Pembroke Pines, Florida, where she continued to sing in the choir and later served as a Deacon.
Throughout her life, Lynette was passionately creative. She lovingly sewed clothing that she and her daughters proudly wore, and family and friends enjoyed her cooking and baking. Gardening, jam making, and preserving vegetables from the garden were cherished summer activities she shared with her daughters. Her lifelong love of horses brought her great joy, and she owned and rode several horses during her young adult years, sharing this passion with her children. Her fondness for dogs and cats was also passed on to them.
In addition to her singing, Lynette was an accomplished accordion player and organist.
Lynette was preceded in death by her son, Howard Brown; her daughter, Roberta “Bobby” Brown; her grandson, John Grabski III; and her first husband, Douglas “Doug” Troy Brown. She is survived by her daughters, Martha Brown and Cynthia “Cindy” Brown, both of Loveland, Colorado, and many friends throughout the country. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
