

Pete Montoya, 81, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Brush, Colorado, on June 29, 1944, to Frank and Mary Montoya, Pete was raised in Platteville, Colorado, where he attended Valley High School and excelled as a multi-sport athlete in football and track.
From a young age, Pete’s sense of responsibility and dedication to family stood out. He worked alongside his father at the local grocery store and eventually left school to help support the family. At the age of 20, he became a proud father to his son; at 23, he welcomed his daughter.
At 41, Pete met the love of his life, Pam Walsh, and together they built a blended family of six full of love, laughter, and strength. He worked for many years as a supervisor and press operator at Hewlett Packard, later retiring from a private press company.
Pete had a passion for the outdoors, spending countless weekends camping with great friends. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and had a soft spot for online shopping. A true athlete, Pete played in a city league softball team, a highlight being the 1983 season, when he proudly played on the same team as his son. A faithful Denver Broncos superfan, Pete’s love for the team was legendary, his collection of memorabilia and orange and blue spirit brought joy to many game day gatherings. He passed on this passion to his children and grandchildren. Sundays were spent gathered around the tv, Pete and his daughter would share chips and salsa while cheering on their team.
Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. Known for being easy to talk to and always having something to say, he touched the lives of everyone he met with warmth, humor, and generosity.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pam Montoya; children Bryan Montoya and his wife, Elizabeth; Marissa Freeman and her husband, Reese; and Tony O’Leary and his wife, Tammy; his three brothers; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Pete is joyfully reunited in heaven with his parents, Frank and Mary Montoya; daughter Tina Marie O’Leary; brother Frank Montoya; nephew Frank “Squirt” Montoya; niece Yvonne Parsin; and great granddaughter Kenna Lundquist.
Pete’s legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will live on in all who had the honor of knowing him.
A celebration of life for Pete will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 North Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, Colorado.
