Ray Hooker, 81, of Fort Collins passed away May 19, 2018. He was born on June 17, 1936 in Stuart Virginia to William “Gus” and Minnie (Bowman) Hooker. Ray married Betty in 1956 in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he was stationed in the Air Force. He then worked for Colorado State University for many years as a mechanic and bus driver. Ray and his best friend, Bud, owned and operated Bud’s Pro Shop for many more years. He enjoyed sports from drag racing to bowling. Ray was a proud coach of youth sports including baseball, football, and most recently a silver level junior bowling instructor. If he was not coaching, you could find Ray at his grandsons’ games. Grandpa Ray was and always will be their #1 fan! Ray was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Minnie Hooker, his wife Betty and four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by sons Gary (Kim) Hooker and Scott Hooker, both of Fort Collins; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. An open house reception will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 North Lincoln Avenue Loveland, Colorado 80538, Friday May 25, 2018 at 11:00 am. A private graveside service will be held immediately following the open house. Memorial Contributions may be made to Fort Collins Youth Bowling Association or Dementia Society in honor of Ray.
