Richard "Rich" Eugene Lewis

Rich grew up in rural Nebraska and graduated high school in Stromsburg in 1962, where he was an all star and captain of football and basketball. After high school, he attended Southeast Community College at Milford, Nebraska. After graduating college in 1965 Rich enlisted in the U.S.Navy where he was an electronics technician. He served on the U.S.S. Goldsborough DDG-20. His tour ended in December, 1968.

Rich met his lovely wife, Sherry, in October 1966 while stationed in Hawaii. They were married in West Vancouver, British Columbia on July 5, 1969. Rich and Sherry began their life together in Stromsburg, NE, where Rich worked for Champion Home Builders. He worked for them for 30 years. They had their beautiful daughter Renee in York, NE in August of 1973. Rich transferred to Champion Home Builders in Loveland, CO in May of 1979 to be closer to great hunting and fishing.

In 1990 Rich left Champion and started Eagle Auto Sales with 2 partners. In 1998, after 8 fun-filled years and incredible hard work, they sold the business. He still enjoyed working, so he continued at various occupations until retirement in 2006.

Rich enjoyed spending as much time with Sherry, family and friends. Rich was so proud to have 2 grandsons, Colton and Dillon, and thrilled to spend time with them. One of his favorite things to do was watch WWE wrestling with them.

Rich was an avid outdoorsman. His other favorite things were hunting and fishing with his family and friends in Colorado and Nebraska. Those were some of his best times.

It's been said that Rich never met a stranger, and could get along with anyone, from any walk of life. He just loved people, was loved by many, and will be missed by many. Sherry and Renee like to think of him as being on an extended hunt.

Rich is survived by wife Sherry of Loveland, CO; Daughter and her husband, Renee and Lenny Borchard of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Grandsons Colton Borchard of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Dillon Borchard of Loveland, CO; sister Deborah Sloan of York, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Richard was held Friday, April 21, 2023 at Allnutt Funeral Service – Hunter Chapel in Loveland, Colorado.
