Valerie Trabold, born in 1943 in Gulfport, Mississippi to Bernard and Margaret Heslin, passed away peacefully at her residence in Colorado. The eldest of five children, Valerie grew up with a strong sense of responsibility, curiosity, and determination—qualities that shaped her entire life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her brother, Brian; and her stepson, David (wife Maricel).
She is survived by her three children and their spouses—Stacey (Ryan), Christine (Bob), and Scott (Kelly); her grandchildren—Corinne, Brennan (wife Lexi), Rowan, Zane, Sloane, and Max; and her great grandson, Teddy. She is also survived by her stepson Charles; her siblings Susan (Karl, deceased), Tom (Janet), and Janice (Bob); as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
After marrying and raising her three children, Valerie made the bold decision to return to school and pursue a college degree. She began at County College of Morris, where she served as editor of the Youngtown Edition. She continued her studies at Seton Hall University, working as an on air reporter for the school radio station, and graduated with honors in 1983 with a BA in Communications.
Valerie went on to work in public relations and corporate event planning at AT&T. Her talent for organizing and bringing people together extended far beyond her professional life. She was known for hosting themed annual family Christmas parties, opening her home to international friends, coordinating neighborhood golf outings, and celebratory gatherings that reflected her creativity.
Her greatest passion, however, was travel. Valerie explored the world with enthusiasm and wonder, embarking on adventures that took her across continents. Her travels included an African safari; journeys to China, Japan, Peru, and the Galápagos Islands; cruises to Bermuda and Alaska; and visits to Portugal, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and Spain. She also treasured time spent visiting friends and family throughout the United States. Each trip added stories, memories, and cherished friends to her life.
Valerie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of family, and her unwavering belief in lifelong learning. Her legacy lives on in the many people she inspired, supported, and loved.
