Victoria Lynn Carlson

Victoria was known for her classy style, generous heart, and fun-spirited personality. She loved her family and friends deeply. She held a particularly special place in her heart for her granddaughter, "Lizzie".

Victoria's youthful years were filled with many bold adventures, including residing in beautiful Alaska for a period of time. Back in the mainland, she enjoyed traveling from coast-to-coast as an over-the-road truck driver, which is so amazing considering her petite stature, but, Victoria had a giant spirit! She was also an avid Yoga instructor, dedicating much of her time to teaching and practicing over the years, as well as a naturally-gifted musician. She wrote, played guitar and had a beautiful, crystal-clear singing voice.

What captured Victoria's interest the most, though, was gardening. She always had such a beautiful yard and a natural ability to nurture plants and flowers. She was also a very gifted artist specializing in calligraphy, design, and jewelry making. Through her creative talent, she could find something old or even broken and turn it into something beautiful. As one close friend put it, "I look around at these handmade gifts, which I will forever treasure, and all I see is that they were made with so much love from our one and only Victoria."

Victoria was preceded in death by sisters, Deb Matheson and Sue Locke, and her mother, Charlene (Buckson) Popejoy.

She is survived by her father, Carol Popejoy of Parkston, South Dakota and brother, Richard (Connie) Popejoy of Dimock, SD. Victoria is also survived by her loving partner of 34 years, Tim Fries, stepson, Ryan Fries, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Buckley, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Victoria's life was rooted in faith and she carried the Love of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her heart always. There will be a Celebration of Life service Monday, May 5th, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God Church, 1456 13th Avenue in Mitchell, Nebraska, followed by a gathering in the Fellowship hall.
