Born in San Francisco, California and only son of Louis S. Lazzari Sr. and Sara G. Lazzari. As a first generation Italian-American, he went to Mission High School, played stick ball in the streets, and learned the San Francisco grocery business with his Father from the ground up. Co-operated the Santa Rosa Market on the corner of Haight and Fillmore, and owned and operated his own deli on lower Taraval St. in the Sunset District. He met the love of his life in 1955 – Annabelle May Wood. He swept her off her feet and married her twice – in both Civil and Catholic Church ceremonies; she left him with her passing just short of 57 years of marriage on February 25th, 2011. He worked at various grocery stores and was an active union member. He was employed for the longest period with Lucky Stores on Lakeshore Dr in Daly City, Union Local 648. He had one step-son with Annabelle – Hank Gardey, son - Louis IV, Daughter - Theresa and helped to raise his grandson Louis V. He welcomed the spouses of his kids – Patty Gardey, John Razzano and April Lazzari. He lived to “hit the jackpot” with the birth of three additional grandchildren – Giovanni, Lucia and Niccolo, and three great-grandchildren – Louie, Roman and Rosabella. He loved his family and, in general, loved people and dogs. He retired with his wife to Clearlake in 1990 and lived at Trombetta’s Resort. He was affectionately nicknamed “Pappy” and adopted by many there and around town. He walked 8 miles a day for years, where he said “hello” to everyone he met. For a while he was known as the honorary “Mayor of Clearlake” by those who knew him. He liked to fish, talk with his buddies on the pier and tell stories of his life. He’ll be greatly missed for his charm, sense of humor, and flirtatious blue eyes.
