Andrew was born November 11, 1953 in Lubbock to Odessa Myrtle Morrison and Warren Andrew McKay. He was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1971. On December 20, 1971 he married Jeanette Schooler and they remained married until her passing in 2019. Together they had three children.
Andrew dedicated 22 years of his life to service of his country in the United States Navy. He left the Navy as an Senior Chief and was awarded many military awards. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed scuba diving and riding motorcycles. He retired in 2014.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Andrew James McKay, Micheal McKay and Thomas McKay; grandchildren, Matthew, Kylie, Brenden, Sydney, Marley, Stephanie, Jessica and Charlie; great grandchildren, Sophia, Shannon, James, Addalyn and Anakin, and many other family members and friends.
A visitation for Andrew will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79407.
