

Funeral services for Antonio Castro Castillo, 94, of Lubbock will be 10:00a.m Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Hispana Baptist Church, 111 E. 82nd St, with the Reverend Joe Lopez officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Garden’s Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Friday evening, June 21st in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel from 6p.m. – 8p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 8p.m. Mr. Castillo passed away June 20, 2013.
Antonio was born on July 31, 1918 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He was the 7th child of Natividad and Juanita (Castro) Castillo.
In 1936 he began taking classes at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary in El Paso, TX and graduated in 1940.
On March 13, 1941 he married Maria Herminia Duarte. Together they had four daughters, Eunice, Hogla, Elma, and Egla.
In 1941, Antonio began his dedicated career as a pastor. During his over 40 year career, he pastored in many churches in Parras, Acuna, and Laredo Mexico. Antonio then came to Texas where he pastored in Baptist Spanish speaking congregations in Del Rio, Shallowater, Sinton, Tahoka, and San Angelo.
Although retiring in 1983, Antonio still continued to pastor and mentor to many people. He read his Bible often from cover to cover and could quote any scripture. He loved singing, especially the old time hymns. He had every verse of every song memorized and knew them by heart.
Antonio married Anita Toscano Franco on October 28, 1989. Together they had 23 glorious years together.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Maria on June 8, 1981, all of his siblings, his son-in-law, Alfredo Gonzalez and step-son, Antonio (Tony) Toscano.
Those left to cherish, Antonio’s memory include his wife, Anita; daughters, Eunice Garcia (Raul), Hogla Tyler (Lewis) of Edingburg, Elma Gonzales of Sinton, and Egla Washburn (Douglas) of Virginia; step-children, Rachel Harmon (David) of Lubbock, Jesus Toscano (Marian) of Dallas, Jo Anna Franco York of Virginia; step-daughter-in-law, Lisa Toscano of Florida; grandchildren, Tirzah Tyler, Tamara Conn (Spencer), Yaxkin Garcia, Nathan Washburn (Jennifer), and Tonia Martino (Paul); step-grandchildren, David Harmon Jr., Samuel Toscano, Lena Toscano, Alexa Toscano, Antonio J Toscano, Timothy DeWitt, Sarah Dooley (Luke) and Angela York; and three great-grandsons.
