He was born to Horace E. "Rabbit" Whitaker and I. Marion Whitaker. Archie proudly served in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a diverse career path, ultimately finding his place at the U.S. Postal Service.
Archie had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also found joy in bowling and playing POGO, hobbies that brought him relaxation and camaraderie over the years.
He is survived by his daughters, Jeanette (Bryan) Hastings of Lubbock, TX, and Stacy Whitaker of Abernathy, TX; his sons, William "Bill" Whitaker of Arizona and Matthew Whitaker, who is currently enlisted in the Army; his brother, Eddy (Janie) Whitaker of Alvin, TX; and his grandchildren, Brandon Hastings of Mooresville, NC, Rebekah (Levi) Fintel of Lubbock, TX; and Makaya and Makenzie Whitaker.
