

Betty Jo “Josie) Hawkins, born Betty Jo Hall on September 2nd, 1936, in Hale Center, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. A devoted member of the Lubbock Community for many decades, Betty Jo lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her work, her faith, and the joys of family and friends and travel.
Betty Jo graduated from Lubbock High School, Lubbock, Texas. She went on to build a long and respected career as a pharmacy technician. Over the years, she served customers with care and professionalism at AMFAC Drug, Albertson’s and Walmart pharmacies. Her commitment to her profession was unwavering-she continued working until the age of 80 before retiring.
A woman of deep faith, Betty Jo was an active member of both Parkway Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her identity and brought her strength throughout her journey.
Betty Jo embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She found immense joy in working in her yard, taking pride in its upkeep and beauty. She loved traveling with Jimmy in their RV and exploring new places on the open road. She loved attending the Albuquerque, New Mexico Balloon Festival. Members of the Red Raiders Road Riders Motorcycle Club with friends, added another layer of adventure to her life. A passionate sports fan, she especially enjoyed attending football and softball games whenever she could.
She is preceded in death by husband Jimmy R. Hawkins; her parents Owen A. Hall and Jewel Mae (McFarland) Hall; her brother Franklin D. Hall and sister Billie Jean Hall.
Betty Jo is lovely remembered by her children Donnie Rodgers (wife Tyra), Connie Murphy Turner (husband David Turner), JW Rodgers (wife Jamie), and Tom Rodgers (wife Billie Jo); as well as her niece Karen Hall Price (husband Dennis), their son Corey, and his family. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who will carry forward memories of time spent together.
A funeral service honoring Betty Jo’s life will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas.
May Betty Jo’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence. A Funeral will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5740 19th St. Lubbock, Texas.
