

Betty Dathlene Martin Peach passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on February 14, 2023. She resided at Lakeridge Nursing & Rehab in Lubbock, Texas for her last three years. Betty was born on December 12, 1926, in Wilson, Oklahoma to Willie and Lillian Gibbs. She was the fourth child of Seven children. She married Millard H Martin on July 27, 1942. They had four beautiful girls, Patricia, Norma Jean, Sharon, and Janice.
Betty and Millard lived in many places in Texas but settled in Brownfield, Texas where she stayed home and raised her daughters and Millard worked as a barber. They moved to Slaton, Texas where she and Millard owned and operated the Slaton Tiger Drive-in. Eventually, they moved to Lubbock, Texas where Betty lived for approximately 48 years. Betty worked at Dillard’s linen department for many years before she retired.
In Betty’s younger years, she loved to bowl and was always up for a card game with family and friends. In her more mature years, she took up dancing however, she still loved the card games. Betty was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan; she rarely missed a game and was most disappointed they did not make the super bowl this year.
Betty was a member of South Park Baptist Church of Lubbock, Texas. She in fact, was their oldest member. She also participated in the Lubbock Senior Citizens activities of which she met Ira Peach. They married on July 2, 1999; they were married until Ira passed away in 2010 at the ripe old age of 100 years old.
Betty is survived by her two daughters Sharon Hanson of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Janice Armacost and devoted son-in-law Charlie of Idalou, Texas and one sister Aleene Clawson of California. She had 10 grandchildren whom she loved and called her Granny, Grandmother, and Grandma: Tracy Lowrey, Brad Jones, Tonya Patton, April Armacost, Caytie Armacost & Chris Armacost all of Lubbock, Texas; Kevin Lowrey of Idalou, Texas; Shealu Bishop of Weare, New Hampshire, Rodney Hanson of Nashua, New Hampshire and Ginger Peugh of Midland, Texas. Betty had 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation is on Wednesday, February 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 19th St. Lubbock, Texas. A graveside service will be Thursday, February 23rd at 11:30 AM at Resthaven Cemetery, 5740 West 19th St Lubbock, TX. Donations maybe made to Meals on Wheels, 2304 34th St., Lubbock, Texas 79411; or Lubbock Senior Center, 2001 19th St., Lubbock, Texas. 79401.
