Billie J. Moreira

Billie was born on September 20, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho to Neal Kidney and Marjorie Evarts. As a child, she moved with her mother and two sisters to Lubbock, Texas, where they lived with their step-father, Thomas F. Dunn. She played basketball and was a twirler in the band at Frenship High School, graduating in 1972.

Billie stayed at home with her daughters for several years, but later held various jobs to provide for her family. She went on to pursue higher education and earned a business degree from Wayland Baptist University.

While working at South Plains College Tech Prep, Billie met Roland Moreira. The couple married August 8, 2005, and shared more than 20 happy years together.

Billie was devoted to her family and friends – hosting countless gatherings, volunteering where needed, and helping those in need. She was a terrible joke teller, yet was keenly funny and easy to laugh with. She was a good listener to both loved ones and strangers and could make everyone feel like the most important person in the room. She kept a lifelong thirst for knowledge, an appreciation for beauty wherever she found it, and the ability to find joy in small, everyday things. And she met every hardship with an indomitable inner strength and an iron will.

Billie is survived by her husband Roland; children Angela Wichman, Lisa Leech, Laura Dominguez, Mara Winders, and Christopher Panzarella; grandchildren Isaiah Rodriguez, Macy Forbes, Zach Winders, McKenna Simeons, Zane Winders, Leo Winders, Novalyne Dominguez, Sage Wichman, and Kaycee Leech; great-granddaughter Scarlet Crippen; and siblings Bonnie Bull, Eddie Dyer, Kathy Newberry, and Karen Stover.

The Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm on Thursday January 29th, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, January 30th, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. All are welcome to attend. Internment will be in the church columbarium.
