She was born near Quail, Texas on February 12, 1929, to Kate and J.L. Harris. An only child, Bobbie grew up on a cotton farm in a small community surrounded by her loving family, her church and many life long friends. She graduated from Quail High School and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayland Baptist College. Upon graduating she married William "Bill" Shannon and they celebrated their 71st Anniversary last fall. Bobbie was a devoted daughter, loving and supportive wife and mother and a beloved grandmother and aunt. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, a long time volunteer for the Lubbock Welcome Wagon and for the Girl Scout Juliette Gordon Lowe Tea for many years. Bobbie was an avid bridge player, a master gardener and a voracious reader. Her love of literature inspired her to advocate for reading programs for special needs children. Bobbie's greatest joy was spending time with her family and her home was filled with warmth, laughter, delicious meals and many hugs. She was delighted by the West Texas sky, the many pets through the years, the fun Shannon gatherings, creating her own special recipes, decades of her treasured friendships, writing poetry and her beautiful flower gardens. Her sweet spirit and loving heart will be greatly missed.
