

Services to celebrate and honor his amazing life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Church on the Rock in Lubbock where he has been an active member for several years. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock. Family visitation will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Resthaven.
Bobby was born on October 28, 1940 in Gorman, Texas to the late Jack Sullivan and Wilmath (Vaughn) Brown. Raised in Gorman the majority of his childhood years, the family moved to Midland, Texas where Bobby attended and graduated from Midland High School. He humbly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Bobby loved drag racing and was a semi-pro driver in his young adult years, earning him the nickname “Racer Brown”. Following his time of service in the Army, Bobby began his illustrious career as a successful entrepreneur and businessman. He owned and operated a productive brick business, home building firm, business consulting firm, home mortgage loan note business, and CRP funding business as well as being active with other prosperous business ventures throughout his adult life. He held and maintained with high integrity a Christian values work ethic as he mentored and assisted others with their business endeavors. While many others his age and younger retired, Bobby continued to pursue his visions for business. He was owner and CEO of Citizens 1st Corporation, but his passion and true God-ordained vision was developing and building up Transitions Industries, LLC, where he served as CEO and chairman of the board at the time of his passing. Though he didn’t live to see his vision come to complete fruition, he had built a strong foundation and purposively and wisely placed strong and knowledgeable people in strategic positions to pick up his mantle, carry on and bring the vision to completion.
Bobby was generous with both his time and financial giving to many worthy ministries, missions, and organizations. He was a believer in young people obtaining a higher education and supported universities by serving as a Texas Tech University Car Coach as well as supporting and contributing to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he served on the Board of Reference. Bobby had a deep love and respect for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. He was instrumental with the beginning of Lubbock’s Night to Honor Israel where he served on the steering committee the past three years.
Survivors in addition to his many friends and surrogate sons, include his loving and devoted wife, Lucy Brown of the home, son, Mark and wife Amy of Lubbock, daughter, Ashley Watkins (Michelle) of Frisco, TX, son, Eric Bowman, daughter, Stephanie Bowman, both of Lubbock, daughter, Heather Bowman of Denton, TX and daughter, Amanda Bowman of Tulsa, OK and the home. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Coco Brown of Lubbock as well as his sister-in-law, Judy Brown of Clyde, TX, nephew, Paul Brown and wife, Angela of Mansfield, TX, niece, Rebecca Brown of Clyde, TX, great-nephew, Joshua Hill of Clyde, TX, great-niece Peyton Brown and great-nephew, Christian Brown both of Mansfield, TX, aunt, Louella Murray of Pleasanton, TX, father-in-law, Robert Stokesberry of Lubbock, sister-in-law, Kathy Davis and husband Steve of Moore, OK, niece, Kori Wilson and husband Mike and children of Moore, OK, niece, Laura Calderwood and husband Josh and children of Oklahoma City and nephew, Taylor McKinney of Broken Bow, OK.
Bobby was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Ronnie Brown of Clyde,Tx.
Memorials are suggested to Oral Roberts University’s Whole Person Scholarship, Lubbock’s Night to Honor Israel, and New Life Children’s Home Guatemala.
