

Bonnie Belle Green Honeycutt, 88, of Lubbock passed away July 16, 2013 surrounded by her family at home. The family will receive friends today at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm for a visitation. A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday July 18, 2013 at South Plains Church of Christ at 1:00 pm. Burial will be Saturday July 20, 2013 at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy, Texas.
Bonnie was born on May 7, 1925 in Big Sandy, Texas to William David and Ida Vera (Blackstone) Green. She married Everett Neil Honeycutt on September 28, 1945, in Big Sandy, Texas. Professionally she was a teacher and public school librarian in the Lubbock Independent School District. She had a great love for children. She also had a gift for storytelling. She and her husband believed in the power of education. Together they helped more than 16 people finish their bachelor’s degree.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, her husband, grandson Kevin Johnston, and her son William Frank Honeycutt.
She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Sheryn Honeycutt Johnston and Katheryn Lynn Honeycutt Pruitt; one grandson, Kristopher Neil Johnston, two granddaughters, Angie Marie Goen and husband David Goen, and Aaron Michelle Pruitt; four great granddaughters, Jade Rhiannon Goen, Sydney Nikoah Goen, Raemi Kaylyn Goen, and Kamryn Grace Goen; four great grandsons, Devin Scott Lewis, Brandon Charles Duffy, Koby Nicholas Johnston, and Boston Creed Goen; Kelly Forester, Stormetta Stateler, Pat Curtis and numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (Lubbock) or The American Cancer Society.
