He was born to the late Edgar J. Haymes and Werdna Rhea (Robinson) on July 12, 1952 in Lubbock, Texas.
He graduated from Monterey High School in 1970 and married Candace Christensen in Lubbock, in 1973.
He co-founded Continental Electric where he worked as a Master Electrician. Later, he worked in electrical sales for Eaton Corporation for many years.
He was an avid Texas Tech football and sports fan. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and boating with his family at Possum Kingdom Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Candace; sons, Chris (Melissa) Haymes, David (Jill) Haymes, Daren (Brandi) Haymes; grandchildren, Ethan, Ashtyn, Dylan and Taylor; sisters, Carol (Mike) McKinstry, Jan (Truman) Johnson; sister-in-law, Cindy Christensen; brother-in-laws, Chris (Stephanie) Christensen, Kim Christensen; eight nieces and nephews and many close friends he considered family.
