Carol Sidney Wood

Carol Sidney Wood, 84, of Lubbock passed away on June 12, 2013. The family will receive friends on Monday June 17, 2013 at 9:00 am at Resthaven Funeral Home for a reception in his memory. A graveside service will follow in Resthaven Memorial park at 10:00 am.

Carol Sidney Wood was born November 19, 1928 at Olney, TX to William M. and Lillian Grace (Hutchings) Wood. He attended school at Olney, graduating from Olney High School in 1946.

Carol was inducted into the US Army on December 15, 1950 and trained at Fort Riley Kansas. He was assigned to Korea in June of 1951, serving with the First Cavalry Division in Korea and Japan.

Carol attended Brantley Draughon Business School in Fort Worth from 1953 until 1957. He married Wanda Fletcher on June 15, 1957 at Sanger, Texas. Their daughter Laura Kelly was born on October 12, 1970. Together Carol and Wanda enjoyed their life together until her passing on December 24, 1994. He was employed by Higginbotham-Bartlett Co. in Dallas and Lubbock from October 15, 1962 until October 30, 2002.

He is survived by his daughter Kelly Hatch and her husband Dan; a beloved granddaughter Hayden; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Heritage Oaks and Mackenzie House as well as close friend Dwayne Johnson and Judy Shelton.
