Marie was a farmer’s wife, married to Jim Waters, until he passed away in 1969; they raised five children together. She worked for the Morton schools for many years and was most passionate about sharing her love for the Lord with others. She also loved to sing and for many years, she held church services at the nursing home in Morton. Once she moved to Round Rock, she wrote letters to visitors of her church, thanking them and encouraging them to come
back.
Marie had two brothers, Joe Alverson and James Alverson; two sisters, Lucille Keeney, and Pauline Wheeler; son-in-law Kenneth Hiltbrunner; and one granddaughter, Cassie Bell of Round Rock, who all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her five children: Carolyn Hiltbrunner of Hereford, TX, Jimmy Waters, of Decatur, TX, Tommy Waters, of Honey Grove, TX, Gaye Volstad, of Pearland, TX, and Patti Bell, of Round Rock; many grandchildren: Craig Hiltbrunner, Kim Waters, Holli Honeycutt, Jennifer Camp, Amy Waters, Cory Waters, Jayme Volstad, Ben Volstad, and Katie Bell; several great grandchildren; Tyler Waters, Jordan Honeycutt, Kaylee Honeycutt, Asher Honeycutt, Rachelle Waters-Wood, and Catalina Rubio; Marie considered her in-laws to be sons and daughters; Kay Waters, Pam Waters, Bill Volstad, and Eddy Bell.
A special thank you to all the people who helped take care of Marie in her later years, including: Becky White, the nurses and staff at Park Valley Inn and New Century Hospice.
