Christine Johns

Christine was born on July 24th, 1955 in Slaton, Tx to Eulalio and Martha Pena.She was the

fifth of six children. (4 sisters/ 2 brothers).

Christine graduated from Lubbock High School in 1975. She was a hard worker with multiple

jobs and finally found her happiness with Texas Tech University Admissions Office helping Red

Raiders achieve their dreams. She dedicated 26 years of service until her retirement in 2014.

She was a firm believer in Christ and attended Alliance Church. Christine enjoyed many things

in life which included her love for dancing, casinos and a good garage sale but nothing gave her

more joy than being together with her family.

She married her husband Jerrold Johns in 1980 and was blessed with two boys. (Jerrold

Dewayne Johns Jr./ Jerrick Dewight Johns). In 2015, the lord blessed her with a granddaughter,

Jeilyn Renae Johns, which gave her retirement a new purpose/ love and sense of enjoyment.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents (Sixto and Sarah Perez), sister

(Margot Trevino),and her niece and nephew (Gracie and Steve Trevino)

Those left to mourn include her Husband, Two sons, Granddaughter, Two brothers (Eulalio and

Arnold Pena) Two sisters (Esmeralda Pena-Weber and Rachel Contreras) Two Godchildren

(Justin Pena and Ni’Kendra Sylvester) and a host of other family and friends she loved dearly.

She loved muncho, muncho and will be missed by all.

Celebration of Life services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023 at Alliance Church,

5825 34th Lubbock, Tx 79407. Arrangements are under the personal care of Resthaven Funeral

Home.
