Connie "Pop" O'Dell Sills Sr.

Connie (Pop) O’Dell Sills, 71, Lubbock, TX was promoted to Glory, Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Celebration of Life will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at The Salvation Army chapel at 2pm. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday May 20, 2012, 6 to 8 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Connie was born July 17, 1940 in Littlefield, TX to J.E. & Emma (Wilson) Sills. He graduated from Littlefield High School & married Lula Mae Hudson on August 22, 1958. Connie owned Cos-Cot Gin Sales. He was a dedicated Soldier of The Salvation Army Church & Men’s Club. In 2003 Connie was awarded The Salvation Army Divisional Man of the Year.

Connie is survived by his wife Lula Sills; daughter Diane (Vearl) Hudson; heartfelt son Jesse (Susie) Zapata; six grandsons, Jeremy (Lacey) Hudson, Jacob Hudson, James Hudson, Carey (Andrea) Sills all of Lubbock, Jonathan Sills of Irving, Jerome Sills of Friendswood; two granddaughters Amanda (Josh) Vaden of Lubbock & Delaney Sills of Irving; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexis & Trace Hudson, Bodie & Maddison Vaden & Marin Sills all of Lubbock. He is also survived by one sister, Bonnie Wheat of Longview; two daughter-in-laws, Cindy Hinkle of Wichita Falls & Stephanie Sills of Irving , many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & his two sons, Connie (Bodie) O’Dell Sills Jr & Major James Trinity Sills.
