She lived a life of service and enjoyed a 50 year career in teaching. She earned a BA from Lamar University and a Masters from Texas Tech University. She was a teacher and one of the first women principals in Lubbock ISD. Following that, she was an associate professor in the College of Education at Texas Tech for 20+ years.
She loved travel and enjoyed trips to Africa, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Galapagos Islands, and a hilarious camping trip across Europe with her sister.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Stocks (Rance), of Lubbock, her son, Jim Swann (Teri) of Lubbock, and her dog child, Bailey .
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, December 13th, at 10:00, at Second Baptist Church. Donations can be made to the Katy Shannon Swann Memorial Scholarship Fund at Texas Tech University or to Second Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Promiseland and Bridge Hospice for caring for and loving Gale for the time she was there.
