David "Cripple" Hernandez

David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Mary Hernandez, his daughters Minnie Hernandez her husband Richard Perez, and Casandra Suarez her husband Reynaldo Suarez Jr., both of Lubbock TX; and his grandchildren Alexandria Hernandez of Dallas, Richard David Perez, Madelynn Perez, Rudy Perez, Myranda Perez, Rehne Perez, Harley Suarez and Titan Suarez, all of Lubbock TX. His sisters, Julia Garza and husband Lee, Cecilia Rodriguez and husband David, Oralia Aguirre and husband Arnold; as well as, many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

David was born on January 31st 1951 in Slaton, TX, to parents Gregorio & Herminia Hernandez of Slaton. He is preceded in death by both his parents; his brothers Gregorio Jr., Gilbert, Lucio, Luis, Frank and Roman, of Slaton.

He worked as a welder and carpenter in Lubbock, Slaton and Lumberton TX. David was a loving father and great friend to all who met him. David was a social, active man who was deeply involved in helping anyone who needed it. He enjoyed watching football and playing dominos with family and friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a man who loved to laugh.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in the Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Our Lady Guadalupe, Lubbock TX. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton, TX. A reception will follow at Our Lady Guadalupe. Father Andres Mendoza will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. The family would like to thank Hospice of Lubbock especially Dr. Farrell, Bell and Laura for the wonderful care given.
