

Dessie Faye Pace, 84, of Lubbock went home to be with her loved ones on Monday February 17, 2014. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Michael Page officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park following the service. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
She was born March 2, 1929 in Ropesville, Texas to the late Ennis and Katie Moore. Her entire school years she attended and graduated from Ropes High School. Dessie married Ardis H. Pace on July 12, 1952 in Wellington, Texas. They lived in O’Donnell for the first 9 years of their married life and then moved to the Wells community in 1961 where Ardis was the gin manager. In the fall of 1976, Dessie became the bookkeeper for the Wells Farmers Coop Gin. Ardis & Dessie retired in April of 1992 and moved to Lubbock, Texas in June 1992.
Dessie was a homemaker, loved to cook (especially pies), and her greatest enjoyment was working in her beautiful rose garden and planting different types of flowers. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She attended the Wednesday morning Ladies Bible Study and helped prepare funeral meals for families.
Along with her parents, Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, Ardis H. Pace; her sister, Iva Ree Young; and nephew, Danny Young.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharla and Paul Zeigler of Lubbock; one nephew, Daryl Young of Lubbock; six step-great grandchildren, Amber, Aaron, Jessica, Taylor, Briana, and Hannah; two step-great-great grandsons, Gaven and Axton; 4-legged grand dog, Patches; and cousins. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Abiding Care Assisted Living for their care of Dessie.
