Rev. Dominga Muñoz, a devoted servant of God, a nurturing nurse, and a beloved pastor, passed away on March 29, 2026, in McKinney, Texas. Born on December 2, 1935, in Sinton, Texas, to Guillermo and Tomasa Muñoz, she was the second youngest of nine children, preceded in death by her four brothers—Jesus Muñoz, Rev. Guadalupe Muñoz Sr., Rev. Thomas Munoz, Guillermo Muñoz Jr.—and four sisters—Maria Valdez, Paula Contreras, Cesaria Manzano, and Rosa Banda.
Her remarkable journey began humbly in housekeeping at Methodist Hospital. With determination and grace, she rose to the role of Housekeeping Supervisor before pursuing her calling in nursing. Earning her LVN from Methodist Hospital in the early 1960s, she dedicated over four decades to compassionate nursing service. Her career touched many through her work at Methodist Hospital, Lubbock Dialysis Center, and ultimately at Cuidado Casero, where she provided care in home health until her retirement.
Rev. Muñoz’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a loving soul who radiated warmth, always sharing the profound importance of serving God with everyone she encountered. Her affection for the Lord was evident in all her actions and the endless encouragement she gave to her nieces and nephews, whom she cherished deeply. She was a beacon of spiritual guidance and love, never wavering in her devotion.
In addition to her nursing vocation, Rev. Muñoz was an accomplished theologian. Her thirst for knowledge led her to attend Instituto Teologico Alba, Emmanuel Bible School, and Holmes Bible College, where she earned multiple degrees in theology. Her scholarly pursuits were matched by her practical ministry as she served as Pastor and Interim Pastor for El Buen Pastor IPHC for more than 20 years. Furthermore, she shaped the spiritual lives of countless youth ministers, Sunday school teachers, and youth directors throughout Texas as Director of Christian Education for the Latin Conference of IPHC for over twelve years — a legacy that will endure in the hearts and minds of those she mentored.
Her passions extended beyond her ministry and profession. She found joy in reading her Bible and exploring faith-based literature, feeding her soul with scripture and wisdom. Family and friends were her treasure, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Known for her loving nature and genuine affection, she also served her church in any capacity she could, always eager to contribute and uplift her community.
She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends who considered her more like family. Their lives were enriched by her kindness, faith, and unwavering support.
Rev. Dominga Muñoz’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and spiritual fervor. She leaves behind a profound legacy of faithfulness, service, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we remember her gentle spirit and enduring devotion, we hold close the example of a woman who lived fully for others and for the Lord she so dearly loved.
