Donald Edward Payne, 80, passed away Thursday October 2, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born December 4, 1933 to Ameral and Ruby Payne in Lubbock. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School. Don loved old cars and spending time in his workshop building things. He was a member of the Lubbock Model Train Club and a life member of the Hub Lions Club. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife Carol with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding annivery this past June 6th; son Jim Payne and wife Sheryl of New Braunfels, TX; grandchildren Derek Payne of Austin and Cristina Wertman of Shallowater; great-grandson Aiden Wertman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Charles Michael Payne.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 1 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at www/resthavenfuneralhome.com
