Rogene was born June 26, 1932 to Jesse and Lillian Thomas in Plainview, Texas. She met the love of her life, C.L. Lewis, at the Hi-De-Ho and they were later married in 1952. She dedicated her life to her family and the education of our future generations. She worked as a librarian clerk in the Lubbock ISD for many years. She was a long time member of Highland Baptist Church, she was known as a Godly woman who had great faith and joy. She was passionate about sewing and creating special gifts to give to those she loved.
As a child, Rogene survived polio and had to wear braces on her legs most of her life. Even through difficulty and struggles, nothing stopped her. She moved forward with grace, strength and determination. She was an inspiration to anyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her greatest love, C.L. Lewis, and her daughter Pam.
Rogene is survived by her children, Vicki and Danny, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
