Those left to mourn her passing are her brother Leroy Selman of Orting Washington, son Jodi Warren and his wife Judy, Grandson Jordan Warren, Granddaughter Xaylee Castaneda, of Lubbock, many nephews and nieces, and countless other friends and relatives who all called her “Nana”.
Donna was preceded in death by her sister Jean, parents WV and Opal, Nephew Richard Brown, and Grandson Jonathan Warren. Jonathan had passed away in April 2023 and Donna had often asked God to take her home so she could be with Jonathan. God answered her prayers 8 months later. She loved her “Boo Bear”Jonathan and his death came as a shock to the entire family. I’m sure Jonathan was the first person to greet Donna as she crossed over.
Donna loved life and she loved people. She held right to her strong Christian beliefs and would offer prayers for those in need. What Donna loved most in life was talking about Jesus and she often spoke of the day when she would be privileged to stand before him.
Donna worked as a waitress in Ft Stockton Texas in the late 60’s before starting a career in finance with Great Western Finance in which she continued throughout her life with the same company as it went through many name changes, most notably, Commercial Credit. Upon retirement, she moved to Lubbock to be closer to her Son and Grandkids. Donna volunteered for many years at the Trinity Church Heart line Center and later the pregnancy center where she would help council those seeking an abortion.
Mom, we will miss your infectious smile, Texas draw, and willingness to help those in need. You would sing unaccompanied solos in church and now your beautiful voice will echo through the heavens as you sing praises to the King. You will always be loved and missed.
