Dorothy Marie Worthington Jones, age 84, went home to be with Jesus on September 30, 2020, in Lubbock, Texas. Dorothy passed peacefully in the hospital surrounded by family after a battle with cancer. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith.
Dorothy was born November 11, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to Lubbock from Jacksonville, FL in 2000. Dorothy was retired from Hart's Department Store as a department store clerk. She was also a home care provider. You will never meet a more caring, loving, and giving person than Dorothy. There was nothing she would not do for others. She never missed sending a birthday card to anyone in the family or friends. She was sharp and was the person everyone went to for advice. To the world, Dorothy was one person, but to everyone she was the world!!
Dorothy was proceeded in death by one son, David Worthington, both parents Theodore and Edna LeClear, two sisters Shirley and Margie, and two brothers Robert and Eugene.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons Steven Worthington (Annie) of Carlsbad, NM, and Terry Worthington of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by eight siblings. Richard LeClear (Linda) of Carlsbad, NM, Roger LeClear of Clovis, NM, David LeClear (Pam) of Granbury, TX, Sharon Womack of Jacksonville, FL, Martha Schurmann (Wayne) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Paul LeClear (Virginia) of Clovis NM, Ernest LeClear (Debbie) of Lubbock, Texas, and Carolyn Stapp (Larry) of Clovis, NM. She is also survived by three grandsons. Nicholas Worthington (Megan) of Carlsbad, NM, Bryan Worthington of Carlsbad, NM, and Derek Worthington and granddaughter Brook Worthington, Kari McOwen along with their mother and Dorothy’s loving daughter-in-law, Kristy Worthington, all of Springfield, OH. She has one great grandson, Draven Worthington of Sedan, KS. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Steven Worthington, Nicholas Worthington, Bryan Worthington, Derek Worthington, Nathan LeClear, Russ LeClear, and Honorary pallbearer Terry Worthington.
The family would like to thank Direct Home Health Care, and all the staff of UMC for all the loving care they provided Dorothy. Also, to her special friend Reba Moore of Sherman, Texas.
