Born on July 19, 1948, in Herlong, California, Dwight spent his early years in the Golden State and attended Lassen High School in Susanville. His journey eventually led him to Texas Tech University, where he pursued a minor in substance abuse studies, a field that would become central to his life’s work and purpose.
Dwight dedicated his professional life to helping others as a drug counselor at Lubbock Lighthouse. His commitment to supporting individuals through recovery was deeply rooted in his own experiences and his steadfast involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous. As a proud member of AA, Dwight found strength and community while offering the same to countless others. His passion for counseling and genuine care for people left a lasting impact on those he worked with and supported throughout the years.
In February of 2011, Dwight married Freda McElfresh, beginning a new chapter filled with companionship and shared purpose. He is survived by his beloved wife Freda Lindley; nephews Steven Iturria and Greg Iturria; and many others whose lives were touched by his kindness and dedication.
He was preceded in death by Zealand Willingham Lindley, William H. Lindley, and Steven Lindley.
Outside of his professional life, Dwight found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and listening to people’s stories. Whether casting a line or lending an ear, he approached life with patience and compassion.
