Elaine was born to Lewis and Emmie Tharp in Clovis, New Mexico, on February 18, 1934, and grew up in Clovis.
While still in high school, she caught the eye of a certain K. Barnett, Jr. — affectionately her "Kimbrew." They married in 1951, and never looked back.
Elaine and K. were dedicated followers of Jesus. They were generous, hospitable, and encouraging people of faith, committed to each other for life, from their marriage until the passing of K., Jr. some 67 years later.
Elaine was also preceded in her journey home by a grandson, Joshua. Now she is survived by nine great- and great-great grandchildren, six grandchildren, and by her children, Glynda Barker and Kenneth Barnett, both of Lubbock, Texas, and Larry (Diane) Barnett of Allen, Texas.
The family gathered privately to remember Elaine’s faithful walk here, to celebrate her going home to Jesus, and then to share time around the table giving thanks for bountiful blessings from above.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Elaine Barnett to The Children's Home of Lubbock, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408 (https://childshome.org).
