On December 15, 2020 surrounded by her loving family, Ernestina Garcia Wilson of Lubbock, Tx, left her earthly body to be with Jesus at the age of 61 years. Peacefully resting in the room prepared by her Heavenly Father, Tina is free from the physical hardships she valiantly dealt with most of her life yet surrenders her brave battle with Covid-19.
Tina was born on November 9, 1959 in Brownfield TX and graduated Lubbock High School in 1979. Tina’s passion for always helping others led her into the field of Pharmacy Technician. Starting at University Medical Center, onto St. Mary’s Hospital to Methodist Hospital now known as Covenant Medical Center, she retired dedicating 28 years always with a smile on her face. During those years, Tina found her true love.
Tina and Bob were married on March 28, 1992 in Lubbock TX. She was a military wife supporting her husband while he served in the Air Force. Tina has been a long time member of the South Plains Church of Christ. She participated in many church Ministries and mission trips. Tina was a leader in the Church’s Angel Food Ministries for over 7 years. In 2008, she was awarded the Mayor’s Hunger Hero Award for her efforts.
“ Ernie”, as she was known, was a tireless and selfless volunteer for 40+ years at the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center/Voice of Hope. She also served as a Board Member. In 2019 she was awarded the Sellie Shine Dedicated Heart Award for her years of service.
Tina enjoyed crafting, including scrapbooking and holiday decorations with her girlfriends. What brought her the most joy was cooking for family and friends, especially with the children.
She was preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents, Celedonio and Esperanza Garcia Zuniga of Lubbock; parents, Juan and Delores Zuniga Garcia; including brother, Danny Garcia and sister, Linda Garcia of Rigby, ID; uncle, Henry Zuniga of Roswell, NM; and aunt, Ramona Zuniga Martinez; and brother-in-law, Mike McWilliams of Lubbock; and her cousin, Michael Zuniga of Corsicana, TX.
Tina is survived by her husband, Robert Wilson of Lubbock; sisters. Ester McWilliams and Yolanda Martinez both of Lubbock; brothers, Juan Garcia of Ucon, ID and Chris Guerrero of Lake Charles, LA; uncles, Mike and aunt Hope Zuniga of San Angelo, TX, Ernest Zuniga of Roswell, NM, Richard and aunt Deborah Zuniga of Artesia, NM; plus 28 beloved nephews & nieces that are too many to
name.
Celebration of Life will be held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel on January 4, 2021 at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park at 11:30 am.
Ernestina/Tina/Ernie is an inspiration and example to all who knew her and she will surely be missed.
