Evelyn Allen

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Evelyn was born on September 30, 1919, in Floydada, Texas, to the late I.W. and Adele (Ford) Hicks. She married Tommie Bronell Allen on September 1, 1940, in Floydada. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2005.

Evelyn graduated from Wayland Baptist College and finished her college degree from University of Idaho. She was an elementary education teacher in the Pacific Northwest. She also taught English as a second language in Alaska. Evelyn was a devoted Pastor’s wife and served in many church ministries. She was an inspiration to all those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Wilson Jackson.

Those left to cherish her memories include five children: Bronell Hambright and husband Brian of Lubbock, Adele Price and husband Richard of Puyallup, Washington, Tom Allen and wife Jeannie of Midlothian, Betty Kersh and husband David of Cedar Hill, and Mike Allen and wife Colleen of Grand Prairie; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and her sister, Leila Faye Bearden of Arlington.
