Florence Townsend Potts Rackley, 90, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Lubbock. She was born May 21, 1923 in Rockdale, Texas to John D. (Doc) and Eva Marie LaFreniere Townsend. Florence grew up in Lubbock and was the third of seven children, all preceded in death except for Jim Townsend of Minnesota. She married Chester W. (Andy) Potts in 1939.
Florence was a member of the Church of Christ and worked as an alteration lady for Latham’s Dept. Store.
Florence remarried Dolen Rackley in 1999. She is survived by Don and Kattie Carrell of Lubbock, Jim and Shirley Johnson of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Rick Potts of Lubbock; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Sherick Memorial Home for Women in Lubbock. Visitation will be today, September 5 from 7 to 9 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday September 6 at 1 pm in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
