Frances "Gerri" Young

Frances Geraldine Young (Gerri), 81, of Lubbock Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday March 9, 2024. Gerri was born July 6, 1942, in Coleman Texas to the late Carl E. Burns and Pauline Shilling Burns. Gerri moved to Lubbock in 1966 where she met and married Billy E. Young on November 22, 1969, and they were married for 40 years prior to his death in 2010. Gerri grew up and went to school in Burkett and Coleman Texas. She worked at several banks in Abilene and Lubbock and worked in her later years in home health care.

Gerri was proceeded in death by her parents Carl E. Burns and Pauline Shilling Burns, one child Carl Kendrick Young who passed July 11, 1970, the day of his birth, Sister LaFaye Pace and brother-in-law Billy Pace and brother Richard W. Burns and sister-in-law Linda Kingsley of Nashville.

Gerri is survived by her stepdaughter Toni Payne of Lubbock and two granddaughters, Cassie Payne of Lubbock and Jennifer Payne of Houston. Sisters, Carline Sanders of Round Rock Texas, Lanette Burns of Burkett Texas, brother Tommy Burns of Breckenridge Texas and sister-in-laws Linda Burns of Waxahachie Texas, Linda Sherrod and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th Street Lubbock,Tx

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Friday, March 15, 2024 at First Christian Church, 2323 Broadway, Lubbock, TX with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
