She attended Patton Springs School in Afton through her junior year, where she excelled at basketball and was class sweetheart and homecoming queen. Her family moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1946, where Frankie graduated from Lubbock High School in the Class of 1947.
She attended Texas Tech University from 1947 through 1951, when she graduated with a B. S. Ed., prepared to teach elementary and secondary levels of home economics and life sciences. Frankie met Jack G. Hoag in a freshman English class at Tech and they married January 27, 1951.
Frankie worked at City Hall prior to the birth of their only child, Karen Lynn, in 1954. Intermittently while raising Karen, Frankie worked as a buyer in the children’s department at Cobb’s and
Lena Stephens department stores.
In 1965 Frankie started her teaching career with a position in Junior High science at New Home school. In 1966 she entered Lubbock ISD where she taught until retiring in 1990. Frankie taught elementary, 3rd and 4th grades: and she served as a Resource Teacher for academic enrichment, primarily at Maedgen elementary school, with some assignments at Hodges, Bayless and Parsons.
Frankie loved the Lord Jesus. Jack and Frankie built their lives around their faith as members of College (University) Avenue Baptist Church. Frankie was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school and enjoyed playing the piano. University Avenue Baptist merged with First Baptist Church, where both Jack & Frankie taught and remained members the rest of their lives.
Frankie passed from this life on February 8, 2024, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack. Frankie is survived by her daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Kim Dement, of San Antonio. Since January 2022 Frankie loved residing at Heartland House, a wonderful Christian assisted living facility in Lubbock. She enjoyed good support from Calvert Hospice services since this past August.
