Helen Ruth (Mansell) Horne

She was born on June 25, 1929 in Crane, TX to J.P. and Estelle Hickey.

Helen attended Crane High School and graduated in the class of 1947. She married Berry Mansell on August 21, 1947 and had 3 children.

Helen had a passion for Christian service and people; she will always be remembered for hosting family and friends in her home, service to the church and hosting those involved in mission efforts as well as mission trips and her years involved with prison ministry.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Berry Mansell in 1969, her second husband Sylvan Horne in 2020 and her son Dale Mansell in 2003.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Anita Price and husband Darrell of Lubbock, Steve Mansell and wife Kimberly of Gatesville, Kay Bryant and husband Randy of Good Hope, Georgia, Matt Horne of Gatesville and Jana Neill of Irving; her grandchildren Brian and Angie Forbes of Post, Aaron Price of Lubbock, Charlie and Abby Rodgers of Big Spring, Russell and Vikki Bryant of Monroe, Georgia, Janis and Brian Henricksen of Plano, Kelly and Ian Gibson of Abilene, Justin and Lynn Neill of Rockford, MI, Justin and Julie Pocta of Brooklyn, New York, Berry Mansell of Gatesville, Gabriel and Lyn Silva of Georgetown, Melissa and Bobby Jenkins of Gatesville, Roy and Amanda Mansell of Houston and Matt and Amanda Carbone of Leander. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Green Lawn Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Lubbock Christian University.
