Helen Jean Moyers

In 1951 she met Wally Moy-ers, the love of her life. They were married on June 27, 1952 in Portales, NM. They were blessed with four children and many happy years together.

She attended Isbell Powell Cosmetology College, gradu-ated, and received her state license in 1958. She owned and operated a beauty salon in the late 50’s through mid 60’s. She worked for 3 ½ years as gate supervisor at Buffalo Springs Lake, 5 years as an apartment manager, kept books for her husband’s dry-wall business from 1960-1987. From 1992-1998, she worked for Broadway Sound, Studio 84, and Moyers Music Center as a full charge bookkeeper.

She was a Christian, accept-ing Jesus as her savior and was baptized as a young adult.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wally Moyers, on January 21, 1991. Also, her parents, Jack and Johnnie Herring; one brother, Tommy Herring; two grandsons, Chad and Landon Moyers; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Emma and Ava Rein Peek; two neph-ews, Cary and Kevin Herring; four sisters-in-law, Neala, Bobby and Chris Herring, and Alice Moyers; her parents-in-law, Carl and Hazel Moyers; cousin and friend, Mina Vines; and other close friends and relatives.

Survivors include one daugh-ter, Jackie Clark of Lubbock; three sons, Wally Moyers, and wife LaTronda of Shallowater, Ricky Moyers and wife Deanne of Lubbock, Randy Moyers and wife Cody of Buffalo Springs Lake; two brothers, Charles Herring of Midland, and Jimmy Herring of Nacagdoches; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; eight grandchil-dren-in-law; eight nieces and two nephews; one special daughter, Gaby D’Souza and family of Miramar, Florida; one brother-in-law, Carl Moyers of Lubbock; one sister-in-law, Cindy Williams and husband Randy of Clayton, N.C.; and her best friend, Jeanie Ware of Lubbock.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Monterey Baptist Church, with interment at 1 pm in Resthaven Memo-rial Park. Mrs. Moyers passed away on her husband’s birth-day, Saturday, March 26th. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tues-day, from 7-9 p.m., and at the church immediately following the service on Wednesday.
