James M Butts

James M. Butts age 77, of Lubbock passed away May 23, 2017. He was born in Lovington, New Mexico on February 18, 1940 to Kenneth and Doris Butts. Jim proudly served in the Navy from 1959-1963. He became a Plank Owner in 2009 when the USS Kitty Hawk was decommissioned. He married Mary Nell Norton on January 6, 1960. Through 57 years of marriage they raised 3 children and was blessed with 6 grandchildren. Jim worked for Lubbock Electric from 1974-2005 until his retirement but continued to work part time until his death. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and antiquing and street rods, although his greatest passion was watching his grandkids play sports.

He is survived by his wife, Nell of 57 years; daughter, Jimmie Nell Carman and her husband Wayne; son David and his wife Toni; son, James and wife Brenda; grandsons, Josh Carman and wife Heather and Justin Carman and his wife Leandra; 4 granddaughters, Mandi, Hailey, Jolee, and Brenli; siblings, Shirley, Penny, Kenneth, Richard, and Susan. He was thrilled to be welcoming his first great-grandson in September. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Doris and a brother David.
