James was born in Big Spring Tx to the late Edward and Leetie Gaines on March 15th, 1958. He is survived by his loving wife Dawn Renae Gaines of 39 years, and their daughter Janna Gaines, Sue Mitchell (sister), and Ray Gaines (brother). He was preceded in death by his father Edward Gaines, mother Leetie Gaines, sister Faye, brother Jack, and sister Gerri.
James was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and attended Christian Life Assembly of God.
James graduated from Coahoma High school and later attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1995.
James enjoyed traveling and watching NASCAR racing and reading.
He fought a good fight, and finished the course…
He lived with the hope of Jesus’s soon return.
