J.D. Ussery

Celebration of life services for J.D. Ussery, 82, of Lubbock will be held at 10:00 am Saturday December 22, 2012 at New Home Baptist Church with Pastor Calvin Gray Officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9pm Friday December 21, 2012, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

J.D passed away Thursday December 20, 2012 in Lubbock.

J.D was born July 4, 1930 in Lubbock, TX to the late F.A and Ruby Mae Ussery. He married the late Vona Lou Ussery on December 13, 1956 in Bethel, NM. He retired from the Lubbock Police Department as a Detective for Crime Line. Prior to being a Detective he worked as a blacksmith and trained and raced horses with father.

He was preceded in death by his wife Vona Lou, and grandson, Forest Lee Southard; brother Gene Ussery.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sherry Southard and her husband Tommy of Merkel; sons, Roy Ussery and wife, Jodi of Corpus Christi and Jay Ussery and wife Becky of New Home; grandchildren, Derek Ussery, Stacy Southard, Kari Ussery, Chad Ussery, Sarah Ussery and David J. Ussery; sister Dola Miller; brothers, Henry Ussery, Benny Ussery, Gerald Ussery; and his precious companion, Sadie.
