Joe Charles Ferguson

He lived 92 fulfilling years. Joe was born on October 1 6th, 1932, in Leonard, TX. to Perry Marshall (P.M.) and Emma Ferguson, nee Garrison. He moved to Lubbock, TX. at the age of five.

Joe was in the Naval Reserve for 2 years at Lubbock High School, then he served 2 more years in the Navy where he served on the USS Fulton, as a submarine tender and where he finished his High School education. He served from 1949-1953. Joe married Yvonne Williams in Lubbock, TX. on October 12th, 1951. They settled in Lubbock and started their family. His family is proud to call him Dad and Grandad. He was always there for his family with concern, advice, and love. He instilled in his family the love of Christ, the love of the outdoors, especially Lake Brownwood, and a steadfast sense of right and wrong. He taught us all how-to water ski, ride motorcycles, play tennis, golf, and bowling.

Joe worked for Baldridge Bread at the age of 10, loading trucks. He then went to work for Mead's Bread as a salesman. He became a salesman for Frito-Lay in 1959. When he retired in 1989, he was the Regional Sales Manager at Frito Lay. He spent his retirement with Yvonne at their place in Brownwood, spending time with his grandchildren, and golfing and bowling with his daughters.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Renee Hamill (Terry), daughter, Denise Mitchell (Jim): six grandchildren, Ross Hamill, Hilary McGuire (Jonathan), Jake Hamill, Kelsey Hamill, Tanner Griffin, and Miranda Mitchell: great-grandchildren, Kiersten Hamill, Liam Hamill, Harper Hamill, Conner McGuire, and Jaycee McGuire.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Yvonne, and two sons, Terry Joe and Perry Michael.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 on Friday January 3rd at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Thursday January 2nd at Resthaven Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
