Katie Koontz

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM, in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 4-6 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Katie was born on May 18, 1920 to Minnie Era and Jesse Louder in Hermleigh, Texas. She moved to Lubbock and married Harvey Koontz. They had one daughter, Jo Harvey Allen, who lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband Terry Allen. Katie is also survived by two grandsons, Bukka and Bale Allen, and three great grandsons, Sled, Calder and Kru, her brother C.T.Louder, who lives in Lubbock with his wife Mary, and one sister-in-law Joan Akin also of Lubbock, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Harvey after 44 years of marriage and her brother Bill Louder, her sister Flora Jane Short and late husband Jesse O’Neal of Seminole, Texas.

Katie worked in sales and management. (Hemphill Wells, W.D. Wilkins Furniture, and Sweetbriar Shops) She was also a member of Church on the Rock. Katie was beautiful, witty, generous, and fiercely independent. She liked people, was open-minded and never known to single out any group for disapproval. She was a great cook and gardener. Her home was always the meeting place, a daughter of the great depression who gave abundance and laughter to everyone.
